Public Openings

The opening dates of the observatory

Just few miles to forget the light of the town and discover the most fascinating and faint lights of the cosmos. The observatory is open to the public throughout the year in the evenings shown on this page, it is not necessary to book. We appreciate communication only in the case of very large groups.

You are always welcome but, in case you are interested to have an English speaking person available, you are kindly requested to contact us, via email at the address : astroperinaldo@gmail.com, so we’ll be glad to organize for you a pleasant night under the stars. 

• Summer time table – Entry and beginning of evening observations at 09.30 PM. Last admission expected at 09:45 PM to take the best advantage of the observations. Only in the case of large attendance, observations will be extended beyond midnight.

  – Advice – View of the lower temperatures suggest appropriate clothing, the observations will take place outdoors and in unheated rooms.

• Tickets – Adults 6€, Kids (up to 10 years old) 4€ 

You can book private events reserved for groups.

JUNE 2015

Saturday 6^th   at 09.30 PM: Observation of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters, nebulas and galaxies.

Saturday 13^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters, nebulas and galaxies.

Saturday 20^th : “Eyes on Saturn” at the Forte dell’Annunziata in Ventimiglia. At 09.00 PM the writer Mr. Emilio Sassone Corsi presents his book “The Lord of the Rings”– At 10.00 PM Observation through telescopes from the terrace of the fort. Free entrance

Saturday 21^st from 11.30 AM up to 01.30 PM: “Summer Solstice” – The Sun and the measurement of the time at the Sundial of the Visitation.

Friday 26^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters and nebulas.

JULY 2015

Saturday 4^th at 09.00 PM: Early opening to allow observation of Jupiter and Venus (up to 09.30 PM) then observation of Saturn, double stars, star clusters, nebulas and galaxies.

Saturday 11^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of Saturn, double stars, star clusters, nebulas and galaxies.

Friday 17^th at 09.30 PM: “The sky in a courtyard”, readings edited by Franco and Carmela. Observations will follow.

Sunday 19^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of Saturn, double stars, star clusters, nebulas and Andromeda’s galaxy.

Friday 24^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of the Moon, Saturn, double stars, star clusters, nebulas and Andromeda’s galaxy.

Saturday 25^th at 09.30 PM: Observation of the Moon, Saturn, double stars, star clusters, nebulas and Andromeda’s galaxy.

AUGUST 2015

Sunday 2^nd at 09.30 PM: Observation of Saturn, Moon (after 11.30 PM), double stars, star clusters and nebulas.
